Julie Valenti
Owner and Program Director

In 1983 I graduated from the North Idaho College nursing program and began my career as a Licensed Nurse. I was dedicated to helping people heal on a physical level, and remained in the medical field for the next ten years.

Over time, I came to realize that there was a significant emotional component to the disease process. This discovery prompted me to become more educated in the field of psychology.

In 1990 I graduated from the JFK University of Psychology, Orinda, California with a Certificate in Addiction Studies. Soon after, I opened a private practice specializing in treating addictions. I continued to do extensive research on the power of the human mind. I studied psychological trauma at the Ross Institute and now specialize in helping people who have experienced early childhood trauma.

I have been in practice now for over 20 years and currently own and manage the Wisdom and Recovery Wellness Center in Portland, Oregon. I have written a series of educational classes and experiential workshops to further enrich the program.

I bring a long history of wanting to be involved in helping others find and live a life beyond their wildest dreams.

Part of that was spent working for 11 years as a nurse with terminally ill patients and their families; helping to bring closure to a sometimes wonderful and sometimes terribly painful life in the way of their choosing; always knowing there needs to be more to help people be at ease.

The last 30 +years I have worked in the addiction treatment field with patients and families affected by the many addictions that plague our society. This includes all of the aspects of recovery: from assessment, detox, all varieties of treatment and stabilization and relapse prevention. I develop tools to help them live a life beyond their wildest dreams. From working in these fields, I believe there has to be more that brings the ability to change into the hands of the people wanting to change! That is when the “20 Concepts” entered my life. Practicing these concepts on a daily basis helped people to change the wiring from years ago, and to keep that wiring firing to have the life they've always desired, no matter what obstacles they face.

In this new chapter of my life, I join Wisdom and Recovery with great enthusiasm to help spread the word that there is lasting recovery for everyone, regardless of where they’ve been, what they’ve done, or what they haven't done and want to be able to achieve! I love to teach and practice what I believe works and that makes this next chapter very exciting…to become a practitioner of the 20 Concepts. I am thrilled beyond measure about this adventure ahead for all of us! Live big! Let me know how I can help!
